Less money, more problems:

Today’s young adults experience similar financial literacy issues as preceding generations but in more challenging circumstances

Many people in her home country didn’t have the privileges or opportunities to financially succeed. In some cases, they didn’t even have money for food or shelter.

Thompson moved to the U.S. with her mom when she was 10, and that gave her a shot at the American dream, a chance she wasn’t going to take for granted.

So instead of spending the money she earned at her high school fast-food job on things she didn’t need — like say, a new pair of shoes — she saved it.
